Chatting Time Are you always running away or pretending you don’t see a foreigner when he comes toward you to ask for directions? Have you ever felt lost while traveling abroad? Do you feel you don’t have enough opportunity to practice speaking English with foreigners? Well, stop making excuses and start attending “Chatting Time”. What is it? Many of our lecturers are involved in weekly hour-long “Chatting Time” sessions which students may voluntarily attended to improve their English conversational skills. In a typical “Chatting Time,” between 3 and 12 students get together with an instructor in a classroom designed for small group discussions, and engage in informal “chatting” about a topic chosen at the discretion of the attending teacher. Chatting Time is from October to December and from March to May every year. No registration is required – all students and teachers are welcome to simply arrive and participate in an informal discussion with one of our teachers and fellow students. |
Four-Skills Clinic All of our full-time teachers provide weekly hour-long “Four Skills Clinics” within their offices. Workshops
The Language Center offers two concurrent and ongoing series of workshops.
Teacher training series
The first of these series consists of workshops in which our faculty members share teaching techniques with their peers and discuss teaching-related issues in general. The aim is to motivate teachers to become more self-reflective in their teaching methods, and to improve as educators. Teachers are encouraged to develop their presentations into research papers.
Student learning series
The second series – which is open to presentations by teachers and advanced students alike - focuses on topics related to how students can improve their learning skills, and is directed at helping students acquiring different ways of learning. Both teachers and students are invited to share their learning experiences and tips.
